Big Girls....

Adalie REALLY wanted to ride the bus. Now mind you, the bus takes almost an hour from the school to our house, its hot, they are tired, Josiah tried it her Kindergarten year (once), but none of this mattered to our new schooler. She wanted to ride the bus. So she got to ride the bus..... oh so very exciting.

Selfishly, I'm not much for the bus. I miss that extra hour. I miss hearing all about their days on the car ride home when there are no other distractions. But, as long as little miss wants to ride, once a week it will be....

while secretly I will keep my fingers crossed it soon wears off!

Forts

I always wondered what it was about forts. Our girls LOVE to make forts! These days they are constructed with mop handles and rubber bands, sheets and hair barrettes, Daddy's belts and ribbons, and lots and lots of blankets and sheets.
Then, one hot sunny day when we had forgotten our easy-up shade.... and I no longer had to wonder what it was about forts! It's so obvious.....

they come by it naturally!!

Line Leader

Adalie FINALLY got to be the line leader!!

Oh what fun!!

To hold the teachers hand, to get to be first all day long, to sit in the bear chair, to use the pointers, to tell your sentence, to chose your station.....

and I got to be there the very first time!!

So sweet!!

Oh Fine!!

Adalie has given us yet another family saying..... "oh fine!"
This summer when you asked Adalie just about anything, she would give you a little smirky smile and say "oh fine!"
"Adalie do you want to ski?"
"Nah."
"Please??"
"Oh fine!!"

She keeps us in stitches....

Conquering Fears

It took Josiah a while this summer to jump back into her water sports. She didn't really seem to interested. As parents, you begin to debate how far to take your encouragement. But for Josiah, it was baffling. Not only did she love to play on the water, but she is also braver than most. Then, 1 day we put it all together.

Late in the season last year, Josiah and I took a tough fall together on the Sky Ski. The image plays over in my mind and still my heart races. We got lucky and there were no serious injuries, but we were both spooked. Little did we know it was that fear that continued to haunt her as well as our summer got under way. This has always been my worst fear .... 1 bad experience on the water takes ALOT of courage to overcome!

And this one happened on my watch!

Bit by bit she began to find her desire and nerve. She ended the summer with a bang, learning to double ski and trying so hard to get out of the wake, learning to surf, Sky Skiing again with Daddy, and double stack skiing with Adalie.

It was bliss to see her accomplish, to she her overcome her fears, to see her bright smile and her eyes dancing with achievement.

Way to go Sister!!
